Bats sweep Sox, streak to eight, 6-3
01/24/2013 11:52 AM ET
Pawtucket, RI - The Bats ran their winning streak to eight games, with a 6-3 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox, Monday night.

The Bats have now swept two four game series back-to-back for the first time since 2003 when they set a franchise record with a 12 game win streak. The win streak in 2003 started in Pawtucket.

RHP Chad Reineke (3-5, 4.19) pitched 6.2 strong innings for Louisville allowing just five hits and three earned runs. Reineke gave up some hard hit outs and extra base hits early, but settled in after a two run third and shut out the PawSox through the next 3.2 frames.

The PawSox got the scoring strated in the first inning with one off of Reineke. In the third the Bats tied the score at 1-1 after Miguel Rojas doubled to left off of PawSox starter RHP Justin Germano (8-4, 2.60) and came around to score on an error in the infield.

In the bottom of the third the PawSox came back with two to retake the lead, but the Bats answered in the top of the fourth with two of their own. Cody Puckett led off the frame with a homerun to left field and Paul Janish scored on a Rojas single to center.

Reineke and Germano settled in after an eventful third and fourth. Felix Perez came up big for the Bats in the sixth however, giving the visitors the lead for good with a solo homerun to right field.

The Bats tacked on two in the top of the ninth to push the score to 6-3. Perez was involved again, with a leadoff single, and came around to score on a Rojas single. Daryl Jones also singled and scored for the Bats as they added some insurance.

RHP Jordan Smith picked up the save for Louisville with a 1-2-3 ninth. RHP Nick Christiani and LHP Travis Webb also pitched in relief for the Bats and held the PawSox scoreless.

The Bats next game is Tuesday as they look to continue their winning ways in Buffalo. Game time Tuesday is 7:05 pm.
